Arts in the Classroom
2014 – 2015
The Artists in the Classroom formerly administered by the Ventura County Office of Education is now being administered by the Ventura County Arts Council (VCAC).
The VCAC Artists in the Classroom Program offers eight-week residencies by teaching artists of unique and experienced vision. Each artist is skilled in communicating and is committed to assuring every child has a successful creative experience. In addition to presenting exciting approaches to dance, visual, music and performing arts, many of the artists also bring multi-cultural and historical aspects to the classroom. This helps students gain an understanding of their own and other cultures, past and present.
The Professional Teaching Artists in the Artist in the Classroom program have experience with children of all ages. When you select a residency for your classroom, the artist you choose will work with the classroom teacher to tailor the eight-week program to the appropriate grade level.
The Fee for an eight-week residency is $450 payable to the Ventura County Arts Council. The VCAC must receive payment before the residency can begin. Each residency is for one classroom only*. Funding for residencies is each school’s responsibility.
VCAC Artists in the Classroom program is continuously adding new teaching artists to our catalog. If you do not see a program that fulfills you specific need(s) please call us (805) 658-2213.
