Artists Travel Grant

In honor of the contributions to our arts community by WILLIAM McENROE, founder of the Ventura College Art Department in1950; CARLISLE COOPER, longtime Ventura College Professor of Art; and LANNIE CANNON whose love of the arts in our county benefited many individual artists and arts organizations; GERD KOCH  & CAROLE MILTON are offering 60,000 to 70,000 United Airlines Alliance Mileage Plus miles as a Travel Grant to a Ventura County professional fine art painter. A travel stipend of at least $1,000 has also been created through the generosity of Peter Cannon, Denise & Greg Stanford, Tom & Pat Richards Dodds, Ted & Joyce Lombard, Gary Johnson, Hiroko Yoshimoto, James & Mary Galbraith, Judith Salazar, Gary & Paulette Freedenberg Johnson and others. Secondary awards of various kinds may be awarded as well to successful grantees.

ELIGIBILITY AND IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

~ Applicants must be:

  • Residents of Ventura County , work in Ventura County as professional artists (e.g. as instructors), or otherwise contribute to the artistic community in the County; AND
  • Professional fine art painters.

~ April 18, 2015, 3-5:00 p.m.- Studio Channel Islands Art Center, 2222 Ventura Blvd, Old Town Camarillo – Gerd Koch will discuss the complete details of the program in the Blackboard Gallery, including why October is a major month for these cities, including Nuit Blanche (White Night), Art Fairs, etc. All artists, as well as the public, are welcome to attend who might want to visit these cities on their own. ~ May 25, 2015 – Submission Deadline for application & images online to the Ventura County Arts Council or received by mail.

~ June 13, 2015, 3:00 p.m. – Travel Grant Award Presentation & Reception, SCIART, 2222 Ventura Blvd, Old Town Camarillo

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Using the Submission Form Link below:

  • Supply the basic contact information requested
  • Paste into the form a brief bio/resume that includes one’s art education and exhibitions
  • Up-load five images noting their titles, medium, etc.
  • Click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the form
  • Submit a $10.00 payment for the entry fee using the PayPal
