Ventura County Arts Council 2017 Art Stars Awards Nomination Forms Are Now Available!
Attention Ventura County Arts Scene, the VC Arts Council is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Arts Stars Awards. Nominees should be persons or organizations that have made outstanding contributions and whose accomplishments have significantly benefited the arts community. Honorees will be recognized at a Dinner Celebration at Levity Live on October 11th, 2017.
We invite you to explain why you think your nominee is deserving of Arts Stars Award recognition. Describe what this person/organization does to enhance and encourage a flourishing Ventura County arts scene, either professionally or by using his/her gifts, talents or resources.
Please provide as much information as possible concerning your nominee. To assist the selection committee, please attach additional information (i.e. bio, newspaper articles, etc.)

VC Arts Council Art Star Award Categories* are as follows:
BUSINESS The county business or corporation that has best demonstrated an understanding that
supporting the arts is a contribution to a more vibrant community or has best used the arts to promote Ventura County’s Cultural Tourism.
COUNTY PUBLIC AGENCY: The government or special district entity that has best promoted and
supported the arts because they recognize the benefits of a flourishing creative community.
NONPROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATION: The nonprofit arts organization that has best demonstrated how the arts serve both the community and local artists, or has attained national recognition in the arts and thereby brought national recognition to Ventura County.
SALVADOR BRAVO ARTIST IN COMMUNITY SERVICE: The individual artist that has best
demonstrated service to the arts community by using his/her gifts and talents for the good of the entire community.
ARTS PHILANTHROPIST (2 categories, select one): Organization/Foundation – The philanthropic
organization that has best demonstrated the knowledge that supporting arts education, local artists, and local arts organizations creates a permanent legacy in the community. Individual/Family – The Individual/Family that has best demonstrated the knowledge that supporting arts education, local artists, and local arts organizations creates a permanent legacy in the community
ARTS EDUCATION: the individual, organization, or school that has best demonstrated leadership in bringing arts education into the classroom.
YOUNG ARTS LEADER SERVING THE COMMUNITY: The individual, who though under 25, is already making an impact in the community through their leadership and commitment to the arts.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION: The individual or organization who has attained national recognition in the arts and thereby brought national recognition to Ventura County
* Based on the submission of compelling nominations all awards may not be presented every year
The panelists who will review the nominations are selected because of their involvement and knowledge of the county’s arts scene. However, because this is a countywide award, the panelists might not be personally acquainted with your nominee. Therefore, to strengthen
your nomination, assume that your job is to make a compelling case for your nominee to a stranger.
Deadline: Completed nomination form and supporting materials must be received in the Ventura County Arts Council office by 5:00pm on the deadline date.
The strongest nominations will:
Introduce your nominee by focusing on the specific activities that qualify them for an award
• Focus on the activities of the last three years
• Include one page letters of support from 2-3 different knowledgeable persons
• Include a maximum of five pages of supporting information (newspaper clippings, programs,
brochures, bio, etc.)
