Atrium Gallery Shows / Exhibits

We have been hosting juried, competitive shows for local artists in the Ventura County Government Center Hall of Administration Atrium Gallery since 2017. In August 2020, we began posting online galleries of the works featured in those shows. We invite you to browse the galleries below and visit this page again as new shows are added.

To learn more about the Atrium Gallery, including past show themes from before the shows were online, planned future show themes, calls to artists and how to enter shows, visit our main Atrium Gallery page.

Dark to Light | Principal and Principles
Atrium Gallery exhibition October 8, 2021 - November 16, 2021
Permanent online exhibition beginning October 15, 2021
Value can be an estimate of the monetary worth of something or the relative degree of lightness or darkness of a particular color. Values are basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions. "Value" is an opportunity for artists to consider these questions: What do you value? How do you consider value in creating your pieces? Do you have artwork that explores tonal range?
At A Distance
Sharing of Ideas and Feelings
Permanent online exhibition beginning March 1, 2021
Artists process key experiences through creation. In this exhibition, artists express and apply their creative skills and imagination to explore and reflect on events of the recent past and/or project their visions of the future. Their work attempts to answer the questions: How will you send this message? How will you communicate your concept? What is your truth, your reality?

Tree of Life
Source | Ancestry | Motive
Permanent online exhibition beginning October 26, 2020
Source, ancestry, motive. This exhibition explores and reflects on the artists' own artistic beginnings, family histories or perhaps why they do what they do everyday. The projects did not have to be self-referential; artists were encouraged to feel free to reflect on any origin they felt inclined to.
La La Land
Addressing Your Surroundings
Permanent online exhibition beginning August 21, 2020
The wacky times of Corona Virus have provided us an opportunity to reflect on ourselves and our surroundings. How have we been impacted by the virus? "Environment" explores how we can create artistically and support our community through trying moments as we modify our behaviors to protect ourselves and others.
