Second Street View Showcase Opens with Interactive Treasure Hunt & Exclusive “Ask the Artist” Event

Our second socially distanced exhibition, located in the storefront windows at 1985 S. Victoria Ave. Ventura, CA 93003 (at Moon Dr.) with parking in the rear, REFLECT 2020, features work by four county artists responding to the hardships and reckonings afforded by the past year. Each window is conceived of as a diorama in which one of the artists has developed a relevant concept. Featured artists, selected by a jury of arts professionals, include Carlos Grasso of Oak View, Josiah Guzik of Ventura, Belen Islas of Simi Valley and Ksenia McEuen of Ojai. The work ranges from fanciful cabinetry, immersive color experience, and paper collage to mixed media installation. The windows are lit after dark and for a very special experience.

The exhibition includes a free, downloadable interactive activity, Treasure Hunt: Ways to Wonder, designed to enrich the viewing experience for families, adults and children of all ages.

There will also be an “Ask the Artist” Online Fundraiser on May 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. For a $15 registration fee, this special online event will offer guests an exclusive opportunity to ask the artists questions about their work. Additional voluntary donations will be encouraged to support the Ventura County Arts Council’s work enriching the lives of Ventura County residents through the arts.

This exhibition currently on view will run until June.
